Job Description


Position: Treasurer, Part-Time Position: 25 - 30 hours per week


Accountable to: Director of Operations


Job Summary:  The Treasurer has the primary responsibility to oversee the stewardship of church finances and provide financial process support to the pastoral staff, church staff, and lay servants of Church of the Saviour.

Job Responsibilities:

The Treasurer shall be responsible for the following:



  • Process and record all electronic offerings and receipts.

  • Receive, disburse, and record all approved reimbursement requisitions, approved invoices, and pension and health care premiums, and pay in a timely manner.  Review all invoices to ensure accuracy.

  • Responsible for disbursing and recording Church of the Saviour payroll. Receive approved/authorized payroll information (new hires, annual salaries for current clergy and staff, time sheets for hourly employees, etc.) on a timely basis per the payroll schedule. Collaborate with the Director of Operations to secure and monitor contracted payroll vendor.

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and summaries for distribution to the Servant Leadership Board, Finance team, Staff, standing committees, and congregation.

  • Analyze material financial variances and perform account analysis as requested.

  • Responsible for providing necessary documents to auditor and complying with Conference requirements.

  • Maintain and review the Asset Inventory Log.

  • Provide such reports and financial analysis requested by the Director of Operations, the Servant Leadership Board, standing committees, or the Senior Pastor for the preparation of the annual budget, to assist with the annual finance campaign, or to assist with any capital campaign.

  • Assist the Director of Operations in the monitoring of all income and expenses.

  • Assist the Director of Operations and the Servant Leadership Board to maintain compliance with all government and denominational agencies, including but not limited to all taxes, worker’s compensation, health savings accounts, and flexible spending plans.

  • Work with the Director of Operations to establish and maintain banking relationships.

  • Communicate, with transparency, financial information to the congregation.


Job Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred, work experience with financial management may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

  •  Ability to organize financial affairs of the Church.

  • Ability to identify and monitor changes or trends in the Church’s finances.

  • Possess strong organizational skills.

  • Possess excellent oral and written communications skills.

  • Team oriented with excellent relational skills.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and display computer skills. Must have the ability to learn and utilize church database.

  • Work collaboratively with church staff, ministries of the church, and congregants with regard to financial information and needs.
