Dr. Joe Galyon

Joe Galyon engages people from all walks of life in the music ministry at Church of the Saviour United Methodist. With a passion for developing church musicians of any age, he oversees a program of twenty choral, handbell, and instrumental ensembles that enhance weekly worship and unique liturgical services.

Each week, Joe crafts meaningful experiences in traditional worship by curating liturgy and music to guide the congregation. Reaching beyond the local church, Joe designs and manages the annual youth choir tour: a nine-day trip with forty teens who sing, ring, and provide mission service.

As a composer and arranger, he publishing music for piano, organ, and handbells with Word Music, Genevox Music Group, Jeffers Publications, and Hope Publishing. Currently, he serves on the board of Area 5 Handbell Musicians of America. Joe earned music degrees in piano at Samford University, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

He has performed recitals throughout the eastern United States and in the United Kingdom and previously held teaching positions at Earlham College and Northern Kentucky University. 

Joe currently lives in Montgomery, Ohio, with his wife, Tammy. They have two daughters in college, Emma and Sophie.
