Dear Church of the Saviour Family,

We have been going through tremendous difficulty, both in our country and around the world, due to Covid-19 or Coronavirus. Many businesses are shut down as well as numerous cancellations and postponements of events we took for granted only a month ago. 

​

Yet, let me remind you today that Easter is NOT CANCELLED! Indeed, we may celebrate the Resurrection of Christ a bit differently this year than we ever have. Still, I believe because Jesus rose from the grave, we have tremendous hope for today, tomorrow, and all eternity!  Easter is God’s word to us that love has conquered hate, goodness triumphs over evil, and that life has defeated death.

 

Christ is risen! Hallelujah!

I want to encourage you to use this opportunity of being at home to engage with Christ’s journey in a new and intimate way. Pause to reflect and experience the upper room, washing of feet, sharing a meal, spending time in prayer. Then on Friday, Good Friday, listen to Jesus final words on the cross.  Allow his words to pierce your soul, sit with the heaviness of Christ suffering. Remember Easter is only Easter because of steps Jesus walked. Easter is only Easter because of his death. Easter is only Easter because Christ conquered death – life has defeated death.

Remember, as the world seems to be on pause, we are Easter people every hour of every day.  As followers of Jesus, we have genuine hope, authentic joy, life-changing truth, abundant love, and generosity in service. That is exactly what our world needs to know today.

You can be a shining light, one true friend, for the blessing of someone else. You can let the resurrected life of Christ overflow into all your relationships....especially with those in your home.

I know that my Redeemer lives… all glory to His name!  One Body, One Spirit, One Risen Lord!
